So one of the best habits I’ve started is exercising at home. After I finished my treatments I was very eager to get fit again and feel energetic and I bought one of Kayla Itsine’s guides. It was an uphill battle for me and I quit twice. My energy was so low and I couldn’t recover from exercise very well, it was also inconsistent, some days I could do it and others there was no way. However, about a year and a half after finishing my treatments, my energy seemed to reappear! I was ecstatic and wanted to do a million and one things all at the same time. Needless to say I wasn’t very effective at any of them:) So having crashed and burned a few times at setting a routine and being consistent with a few areas of my life, I have found a system that works now. Exercising at home! I can’t believe I didn’t start this years ago.
I alternate between Kayla’s first guide, Tabata & HIIT workouts and yoga videos I find on Pinterest. There is some amazing FREE stuff out there and I’m not going to lie between trying to create my very best life, I appreciate 20-30 minute workouts! I mean, honestly, there really is no excuse to pass on 20 minutes of sweating. I could kill 20 minutes on instagram or putting away laundry or some other thing that doesn’t mean nearly as much to me as being fit and healthy. I’m saving money and time and I know I’m being more consistent because of it.
So to get you started, I’m going to share 5 of my favourite yoga videos. If you want a morning practice or a relaxing evening practice or even 10 quick minutes before work, there is something for everyone. You will love the space and movement a little bit of yoga creates in your body and it ‘s a fantastic way to unwind at the end of the day and prepare for a great nights sleep. Namaste.
1. Bedtime Yoga with Adrienne
Okay, Adrienne’s videos may be my favourite. She’s quirky and warm and has an amazing YouTube channel. This 20 minute quicky is one I can repeat almost every nights some weeks.
2. 15 Minute Morning Yoga
Yoga by Candace is another fantastic YouTube channel. She also has a website from which you can view all her free videos. There is everything from gentle to challenging as well as how-to’s for different poses. She is a great instructor. This is a short morning stretch I do to wake up my body.
3. Vinyasa Flow with Kassandra
Another great YouTube channel. Kassandra has a huge variety of videos, so whatever floats your boat yoga-wise, you’ll find it there. Here is an energizing flow, that’s just 35 minutes.
4. Yoga for Weight Loss
Okay so Adrienne’s videos might be my favourite. These ladies are all amazing but you always connect with certain teachers more, right? So here is another one of hers I do regularly that’s a bit more challenging.
5. Period Yoga
Okay, so I’m not sure about you but there are about 2 weeks every month between period and PMS that exercise is an extra challenge for me. I mean, some days, I can barely peel myself off the couch after work and then I spend a lot of time googling what the hell goes on inside our bodies and why is life so hard right now? I don’t think I’m alone in this and Sarah Beth (another YouTube channel that you need to check out!) has a great video that is only 15 minutes so our period brains don’t feel overwhelmed.
